How to Get Traffic to Your Website
Posted by Well you’ve done it. You have made a decision on the type of home based business you are happy with, you’ve done your research, you have all the tools in hand that you’ll need, and you’ve built a smashing website—now what? under Work From HomeThe old adage ‘if you build it they will come’ does not apply in online marketing. When the internet was a baby it worked a little better that way. There weren’t many places to go online, and the few websites built were easy to find. Today there are literally millions. That’s right, in fact, millions in just about any category you can imagine. So if your home based business sells novelty car signs, guess what—you are competing with millions of other websites that do the exact same thing. Chances are your website will be buried in the search engine avalanche unless you know a few simple tricks to getting seen.
Content is definitely King, but traffic rules the kingdom. You definitely need the best possible website for your product or service, or even when a potential customer finds you they’re not apt to stay long, or buy anything. However, if they never find you, the best content in the world won’t help you a bit.
There are terrific websites, and social sites all geared to get you noticed. Use them. Most of them are free and easy to get started in. A huge explosion in online marketing is the web-log, or blog as it is more commonly known. Even a blog needs a little boost to get viewers though. Hundreds of thousands of blogs are out there, and many only get a few hits a day, if that.
The ones that do wildly well are the ones that have owners who understand how to drive traffic. Websites like Blog Explosion, Blog Rush, and many others are geared to help you generate traffic. They don’t cost anything, and drive hundreds of people to your site. These are great tools. There is one thing to realize with these types of trafficking programs—they are not generally sending target readers to you. Of course some will find your site and become a customer, but a great many will just pass through.
That is still important. It gives your site a higher traffic ranking on the search engines. The more traffic of any kind that you receive the more visible you will be on Google, Yahoo, MSN and the rest.
Another little trick for attention is to get others to create ‘in-bound’ links to your site. Write some interesting content and others will want to talk about it on their blogs. Those links not only attract their readers to your site, but also clue the search engines to boost you up even higher as well.
